Independent musicians can reach a lot of new fans and make money in 2016, let's get started.

I'm one of millions of independent musicians in this world, making music in my home studio and marketing directly to the public. After letting my original music catalog sit idle since 2006, I decided to post my music online again in late 2012 so that I could earn extra money and provide one place where fans from the past could download my music without having to use risky illegal download sites. Basically, I've been asleep since 2006, but woke up to find several artist tools that are available now for independent music distribution, music promo tools and social media integration, that offer better features than I ever imagined.

Here are a few outstanding music distribution services I've found: (alphabetical)
  • Band Camp - http://www.bandcamp.com
  • CD Baby - http://www.cdbaby.com
  • Distro Kid - http://www.distrokid.com
  • Loudr - http://www.loudr.fm
  • Mondo Tunes - http://www.mondotunes.com
  • Reverb Nation - http://www.reverbnation.com
  • Symphonic Distribution - http://www.symphonicdistribution.com
  • Topspin - http://www.topspinmedia.com
  • Tunecore - http://www.tunecore.com
For promotions, there are a few internet radio services out there that offer paid radio spins that are very interesting.
  • Radio Airplay (aka Jango) - http://www.radioairplay.com
  • Mondo Tunes Radio - http://www.mondotunes.com
  • feature.fm

In this blog, I will also discuss Publishing Administration services, Sound Exchange and a few other things as well

Now that I'm actively promoting my music again and making money, I've found some advantages and disadvantages to each of the services that I've listed. This blog will be about the results of that research. I will be open and honest about which features are working, which features are seem overpriced, and which features are generating the most revenue. If you would like to help me add a distributor or promotional service to my lists, please let me know.

This blog is funded by revenue generated by an advertising service called PopAds. You should check them out if you are looking to fund your blog.
